It is estimated that approximately one in three girls and one in four boys have been sexually abused as children, either by someone they knew or by a stranger. Because sexual abuse was, and often still is, a hidden problem that is very difficult to talk about, these children most likely never revealed the abuse or received appropriate assistance in order to overcome this devastating abuse. As a result, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse often feel isolated from others and have difficult with trust, intimacy, and communication.They also may suffer from shame and low self-worth,depression and anxiety, fear of abandonment and rejection, problem with relationships, substance abuse, eating disorders, and difficult with anger management.
